Where is the snow?

Many major skihills out West are ready to open as early as this weekend, but we still not getting anything except some frost here in Ottawa.

I can smell it's coming.....

I was just checking out alternative to my DSL connection from Sympatico the other day and found nothing that's give me better uplink..... that's 0.8Mb (~65KB/s after overhead and such). Hopefully, Bell's going to deploy FTTP soon.

Spent my weekend in Toronto. Did some shopping like replace the broken compass in the car. Finally got the UK body armor cover from Creative, since I found a use for it; carry gears when snowboarding.

Enjoy listening to Uncle Nick about how life in Hong Kong back in 50s. The Mark 1/2 resettlement housings and how the toliet stinks. sad

Hook up with the usual suspects/partners in crime (aka Nelson and Claude) for supper + bubble tea. This time we tried a new place (relative to us, of course) at #7 across from Time square. They have awesome decorations and music. The bonus is all the cute waitresses around us..... cool We read magazines and shoot some bulls. I, as always, bring up photography questions to Claude, he explains to me how many commerical shoots are done in the magazine.

Let's this be the check list for my snowboarding improvement objectives for this season.

- get instructor L1 certification
- ride switch over green and hopefully blue terrain
- improve intermediate sliding turn, able to comfortably come down black diamond run
- improve short radius turn on blue terrain
- improve carving on blue terrain

Other stuffs might work on:
- mogul
- 180/360/small jump
- pipe

Most important: Be safe out there.

So, this is the latest from the worldwide 2-way web.

Podcasting basically uses RSS to publish multimedia bits. The RSS feed contains a "enclosure" that point to a audio track, one can download it later (ie overnight) for listening. Currently it is for audio blogging, your own radio/talk show kind of thing. The original idea is for iPod and other mp3 players, but I'm sure it will be much more in the future.

iPodder is the application that people put together to do podcasting.

Watching a news magazine program on Fairchild TV the other night, it's about Portland street. Even through I used to live around the neighorhood, but never realized it's so red, as in "red light" district.

It's foggy today.

The weather is so wierd this year. The whole summer only has 3 days I can remember to be called hot. Now we got fog in the fall. Ottawa is not a fog city and certainly I don't remember seeing that much during the morning, let along in fall.

What else? Maybe snow by Nov? That will be good so I can start snowboarding.
