Saw here about how sound setting works in Fedora. But in my case it doesn't, for some reason PCM setting always reset after reboot.

On the other hand, installed Aeroread following this instruction. It is needed so I can read embedded pdf file from many web page (i.e. Fido on-line bill).....

So, with the new ATI driver installed from Livna (kmod-fglrx), I still cannot enable desktop effect... why?

On the other hand, don't know when the Bluetooth file transfer no longer work..... I was using it to send files from my Moto Ming to T60. I hope F8 going to improve this area....

早前找來了些舊照片, 使我想起在2005年到Boston出差時的這兩張:

Art on the street Art on the street 2

我從來也不明白甚麼是藝術,只是跟隨自己感覺去"喜歡".或許這些就是五師兄說的溝通?

反正自己欣賞就是了.

I've been thinking about upgrade to Gallery 2 for quite some time. The new version is much more feature rich and with enhanced usability. It has some Ajax function, but it seems made response slower over ADSL-link from home.

So far, the basic setup is done. The migration from G1 is relatively painless, but not fool-proof. Album permissions is much more sophisticated, but a bit too complicated for me. There are still some stability issue related to PHP setup, I think.

Really busy at work this week so didn't do much.....

- Open one bug report on Livna about mplayer could't install because dependency missing on libdts. Right now I am using totem, but lost the function to watch Divx and DVD.
- Finally try out the close source ATI X driver from Livna. Good to see I can run GoogleEarth and other 3D applications now, but the laptop suspend function no longer work...

Saw this introduction on Yahoo Pipes and decided to try it out.

A mashup is created from a GUI that one can drag and drop components to construct the logic (aka programming...).

Yahoo Pipes creation

A user can select the source of data, perform processing to data source, and display result.

Components can classified into 3 types:
Input - various data sources like RSS feed, Google base, CSV, user input, and etc.
Processing - There are filter, sorter, and various of data processing to massage the in-coming data.
Output - where results are show on the web

A result of the pipe is display in a page, which can be subscribe as RSS feed itself. A pipes can also be published to allow sharing with others.

Yahoo Pipes output

I have not spend too much time on it but wondering how powerful this tool is, and yet to figure out how to do more complicated processing:
- Get the contents of each item in a feed, and extract all links and display it.
- Get each item from a feed and search and display all links to it.

Maybe I will try some more later to how to do these.

This seem like a better week in Fedora world.

- A work around is found to the GNOME sensor applet problem I reported. It seem like udev is the problem that thinkpad_acpi is not loaded for my T60. A new bug report is opened.
- laptop suspend seem to work now. wireless is shutdown on suspend and restored when T60 waked up. Cool!
- Nautilus mem leak turns out to be a side effect of rotating wallpaper image often.... but still no real solution except kill/restart it.

So, F8 is coming. There are many cool things on the feature list, can't wait.

We learned from history time after time that the best technology not always the winner. i.e. VHS VS beta, Windows VS OS/2

But this is about life and death, how people able to sleep at night when it seems that their own agenda is getting in front of the best interest of the people who risk their life?

I don't know who is the lier here, but more and more evident is mounting.

Dealing with those baddies around the world, our sons and daughters deserve the best.

Graffiti of Emperor of Kowloon Graffiti of Emperor of Kowloon 2

2000年聖誕我在回港時在尖沙咀太空館附近見到這墨寶,覺得很久沒見到這個熟悉又陌生的.所以拍下它. (p.s. it's B&W)

我不認識這位己離開的老人家,也不知這是藝術或是塗鴉.只記得小時候間中在校車接送回家途中在街上見到他的一些作品.當時只覺得不知他在寫甚麼,所以直覺這人精神有問題.
