Just saw from the doc about his 網摘, indeed it's very convincent. It collects new posts from all the RSS feeds you like and present it in a single page. One can read all the posts at the same time, no more browsing all the sites daily!

This is the power of RSS, which provide the "streams of data" to all to use. The idea of aggrgration is very common these days, some coins it "mashups" when sources of information are blended into one for comsumption.

The function itself appears everywhere under different name. The truth is they get the same job done; RSS readers/aggregators (ie GoogleReader, Gregarius, and etc), Planets, Firefox extension, and the list goes on and on. It can be local on your computers, or as a web application you can subscribe to from the Internet. But it makes a more quality time for surfing all the information.... until there's too much information and drawn me.

Saw at Techeblog that someone has designed a shoot around the corner device. The first thought I had is: Gee, I thought they already have it in Ghost in the shell... what's new?

I still rememeber when CD first came out in the 1980's. They claim to provide a lifetime of music enjoyment, with the proper care of the media, of course.

But the other day my friend pointed out it's not the case. So, I did a quick search and saw this....

Ok, maybe I should ripped all of my CDs to mp3 now as a backup. So, I can listen on my Ming PDA as well. smile

Note: Yes, I seem to "remember" a lot these days... is that a bad sign of getting old?

People have been having fun exploring what they can find from source code of many open source project.

I did a quick try with my name, it's cool to see my name pops up from the search as well. smile

Google code search with

Well, it's all in the open now, so the "peer review" get easier. We need to be even more careful when writing code..... not hat we aren't.

I was in this place as well when I visit Singapore in June. There's why I first met Heng's friend in town. It's really a busy place and the waiter/waitress works there really have an attitude. I mean they are mean.... yes, mean. I guess it's come from that I-am-famous-near-and-far-so-I-serve-you-the-way-I-want-to-and-you-eat-what-I-give-you thingy. (There was a smoked meat place like that in Montreal too... and they are GOOD)

This bring back a lot of fond memory of the trip.

Thanks, Alice.

If you are a military buff like me, you probably notice the US troops deployed in that certain part of the world is donning a new camouflage BDU. The Army Combat Uniform. The new unifrom is redesigned and suppose to make soldiers' life easier, in another word, make them more survivable on the battlefield.

One interesting thing about this grey/white-ish camo designed to make soldiers "invisible" is that it's universal for all environments that US troops is going to be deployed. (desert/woodland/urban)

However, how effective is this so call "univerisal" camouflage? I guess only time will tell.

Meanwhile, ACU is not the only game in town. There is an experimental uniform/camo known as Multicam that is coming out about the same time. According to some information on the net, Multicam seem to be even more adaptible to the surrounding.

Speaking of the camo used by ACU, it's actually design digitally. It's a variation of one used by Marines called MARPAT (and here).

If you still want more of camo, see here.

Meanwhile, I still like the optical camo in Ghost in the Shell better. smile

Saw it on lanyang about a home-brew video by a asian guy, it's a funny video. It asks a question many have asked: Why do asian girls go out with white guys but hardly any white girl goes out with asian guy?

How classic and stereotyping. Why asian girls like gwai lo? It's not just happen in North America, we often saw the scene at places like Lan Kwai Fong. There is a popular believe that certain body part is a BIG reason. We must have watched too much xxx movie. razz

Maybe it's just a episode of identity crisis?

Read some good analysis on Aberdeen about why blogging didn't catch on in Hong Kong (as compared to China/Taiwan/Everywhere else) as most people still treat blog as a daily.

Of course a blog is not just a daily, it should/can be much more. But since it's a fad, all just jump on the wagon for "fun". The thing is, not everyone has the real motive to use blog as a communication tool for their opinion and such. Therefore, most people blogging just trying hard to find idea to put on their blog. Guess what, most such idea just conveniently come right out of our live (ie oh, wake up at 10 and it's such a shitty night when I go to bed @ 3am). The people that participate define our blogsphere. It is the same way back when everyone have their "Hello, world!" webpage, and it's the same right now.

A similar thing happen to the media; They see a pop cuture "Phenomenon" and catch on to put up a story to attach reader. That's just their job.... I guess they have that "instance" what is in..... and of course the reporting will be just on the surface when it's been treat as a fad.

To me, my blog is a technical platform for me to try out all technologies behind the blog (Ajax, PHP, Webapp dev). I admit that don't have much to say, besides maybe using it as a journal for snowboarding technical information for myself.

Saw it at pig, Hong Kong's Transport Dept has their road-side camera on-line.

Transport Department -- Road Traffic Information Services

For curiousity, look it up from Google and found that Ottawa also has their traffic camera on-line.

Thinking back, no wonder people are worried about privacy.... Police always saying they are "reviewing" CCTV on some crime for clue these days.... I am sure there are a lot of these camera everywhere. As a fact, I know there are many of them around Nortel's property @ Carling.

So, MSN and Yahoo decided to provide inter-op for their users. It's a good news for IM users around the world.

I've been using gaim on my Linux box, which support many IM systems. I login to MSN, Yahoo and ICQ, and it consolidates my 3 IM accounts under the same client. Even through it's not the best client around, but it gets the job done as it's a good way to go without have to run 3 client s/w at the same time.

With this inter-op agreement, I should be able to use my MSN to IM to my Yahoo friend and colleague. Maybe what I can do is to run only MSN at home and has all my Yahoo friends IM me via my MSN account when I am at home. Then when I am at work I will be using Yahoo (MSN is blocked at work, anyway).... don't know if it is better this way??

On the other hand, I'm interested to see whether they are going to provide function to link a MSN account to a corresponding Yahoo one. This will be very useful in the sense that I do not have to let all Yahoo friends know my MSN account in order for them to IM me. It will be cumbersome to have to do it manually.

Now, let's add Jabber support so I can link to Google Talk as well.
