08/31: The Minefield of Blogging
While reading about some drama (more here) over at Friendster, I bumped into this article. A good read about blogging and its potential privarcy/legal/liability issue. I have never really thought about it, but it's indeed a minefeild we are walking on.
For privacy reason, I was cautious and hesitate on putting up posts on certain area/details since day 1. ie work, political/other opinion and more sensitive thought. My gut feeling was worrying somethings (but don't know what in particularly) since it's all out in the open and I guess this post give me the food for thought.

The man with tee roll-up to the chest just so Mainland Chinese. By looking at the picture without any description, I can guess he's from PRC.... not necessary it's a bad thing. It just like all the cute asian gals making a V-4-victory sign in front of camera are likely from Japan. Ok, I'm a bit stereotyping here....
BTW, I don't know if Luis noticed, another common sight of "amusement" (at least to me) is people in China crouching on the sidewalk or other public places (sometimes rolling up their tee at the same time) while waiting or taking a break. In other countries, people either find a bench/fence/curb to sit on or simply standing instead.... But in China, it seems more fashionable to just sit on your feet.... aren't they get tried in that position after a while?

Taking pictures of her new outfit, some nice fashions on display, nice dressing gals on the street... and as a mirror.
We're just so creative about this new toy.

08/26: Camera Mountain, Lens Sea
I know there will be a LOT of photographers in a mega sport event like the Olympics, but never thought of how many camera will be there.
Just how many camera are at Athens?
Now I know: It's a big amount!
They bring in a battlion of professional level camera with premium lens. All these camera are preset by the sideline and linked wirelessly. So, the photographer just hit a button and all of them snap away.
In addition, photographers bring in their big gun and taken up position to snap on some detail/focus/target shot that the preset camera won't catch.
So, that's how they waste films.... oh, I mean how that are able to take a lot of pictures to ensure something turn up.
I rememebered reading about how low the turn out of pictures taken in sports event, and I definitely know it first hand when taking pictures for our soccer team. That 1 million dollars shot is actually just one of the many, many that failed.

06/27: Supersize the Big M
Morgan Spurlock is an American hero. How can a guy eat Golden Arch 3 times/day for 30 days? He did it.
He got sick, depressed, and addiction from the food in the name of making a point.
After watching the movie, I feel so guilty that I had Big M for lunch 2 times and another one at Harvey's in the past week and a half.... in the name of convenice.

It's always fun to read about the future when people predicting it, no matter it's a high tech utopia, or a dark living hell.
PTV: A FUTURE-STATE STORY
Many life-styles mentioned in the post are already happening in various form today:
- mobile/home-base working allow a office worker to work from anywhere. In fact, Nortel has home-based emplyees for at least 4 years now. I can work out of the office in a limited way since I got the 7135. Actually, I was "kind of" working out of office (getting call, checking email) while bringing my car in for a windshield fix few weeks ago.
- WIFI/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/1xRTT allow user access to the internet anywhere and anytime. I made my first post via WAP a while back. The trend is only going to accularate, once they found how to integrate the service into our life and make it useful.

05/27: The Ultimate Monsters War
I didn't watch Godzilla that much when I was a kid, but it always intrigue me to see this big monster roaming around and destroying things in the name of protecting us.....
One thing I didn't know is there are 25+ Godzilla movies since 1950s'! One recent one that everyone knows are the Hollywood version, but I just found the giant monster in that movie kind of ugly and un-Godzilla.
There was even a OpenGL game about monsters destroying city called battalion. It's fun.
So, a new one is coming, claiming to be the last one for a while. I will missed this big lizard.

When I think of picking up chick for one night stand (no, I don't mean the act of pickup done by me, just "pickup" in general), this image always pop up in my mind; A Bar or some sort of clubing place, a lot of trendy/cool looking people, loud techno music, people engaging in ear-to-ear chat, eye contacts, flirting, buying drinks, dancing closely, and newly met "love bird" head out of the place to do the deed or whatever they desired.
With modern technology, it becomes a whole new ball game:
Place: Anywhere - a mall, shopping strip in downtown, a book store, a subway
Time: Anytime - during rush hour, at lunch time, a Sunday afternoon
All you need is a cellphone with bluetooth turns on and you can send a simple message (via bluetooth business card function) like "toothing? 613-xxx-xxxx". You send someone a message and if she replies back or via SMS, you've got game! It's better than ICQ, MSN and Friendster.
Once becomes outreaching to all nearby devices and whatever it reaches is real (ok, it might be a pork-chop...) and close-by. It needs not to be a sex advanture with a stranger, it could be just a chat with some stranger you "bump" into. It's up to you. The closest thing I can think of is someone saw your stat or pick you randomly out of millions and ICQ/MSN you saying "wanna chat? I'm bored."
Gee, I got the best reason to get a Bluetooth phone now.

04/24: Hung! You William
Some thinks he is a laughing stock and should go home.
Some thinks he is talented, funny and comical.
I just found him a bit wierd..... handsome? He's not. Talented? I failed to see that with my bias taste on things. But hey, he has his 15 minutes. I respect him has this level of self-esteem and confident to go national on TV, knowing many think he is an idiot. But I still somewhat embarassed by him being from Hong Kong like me... and performing she "bangs".
Oh well, I need my fix of self-esteem boosting. Hahaha.

03/26: TV game billboard
So, they put up a billboard in Times Square at NYC that people can call and play video car racing game on it..... it's Yahoo! autos ad.
Wireless technology plus location specific service is starting to come into our live. In Europe, I heard you can buy pops using your wireless phone, simply dial and punch in the code. They charge you and the pop drop out of the vending machine. In Hong Kong, you can send SMS to your favorite singer live on TV and ask them questions or dedicate song to someone, with a small fee. Even in Ottawa, now there is a Bell mobility service that provide traffic condition on 417.
Developer will eventually find that "killer" app that get us all crazy about wireless here in North America, may that be a mobile game, information guide, real-time news, or whatever. With the integration of GPS onto the phone, content provider can determine the location and feed the user targeted information. This, couple with data service, sure can help drive the traffic and adoption of data. But cost of data Internet is still the biggest factor at this stage.

Finally, they re-make this classic! It is my all-time favorite manga. The story-line is cool, global and futuristic. The fighting/shooting sequences in the manga were just dazzling! And I always dream of having one of those landmates...... it's awsome toy!
This is the hallmark that define 士郎正宗 as the master even before his other classic Ghost in the Shell comes along.

02/06: GSM on cruise ships.....
Well, they put it all over the cities. They put it on highways and places that people travel to. They even put it on train in Europe. But I would never think of putting it on a ship! "Hey, how's things? Me? Oh, just sun-tanning on the deck of a cruise ship."
I say they're going to put a BTS on the top of K2 someday, so "adventurers" can phone home without using satelite phones.
